Personality Assessment
Assessing Personality is a proficiency in professional psychology that involves the administration, scoring, and interpretation of empirically supported measures of personality traits and styles to refine clinical diagnoses, structure and inform psychological interventions, and increase the accuracy of behavioural prediction in a variety of contexts and settings (e.g., clinical, forensic, organisational, educational).
Assessment Tools
The most commonly used personality assessments include the following.
- The Personality Assessment Inventory-Adolescent (PAI-A) is an objective personality assessment for use with adolescents aged 12 to 18 years.
- The NEO Personality Inventory-Revised (NEO-PI-R) is a standardised questionnaire based on the Five Factor Model (FFM) of personality for individuals agesd17 to 89 years. It provides a systematic assessment of emotional, interpersonal, experiential, attitudinal, and motivational styles.
