Referrals - Dietitians
Although you do not need a medical referral to see our dietitians, we encourage clients to integrate their health care and believe working closely with the other members of their health team ensures an integrated approach and therefore optimal care of our clients.
If your appointments are to be paid by a 3rd party (eg. WorkCover or DVA) you will require a referral from your GP or specialist.
If you qualify for a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care plan and have a team care arrangment from your GP you may qualify for up to 5 Medicare rebated consultations per calander year. If you have Diabetes, you can also discuss with your GP a special referral to access Medicare rebates for an inititial consultation and group cooking classes.
If you have private health extras insurance cover, all our dietitians are registered with all Australian health insurance companies so you can access a rebate and we have a HICAPS terminal to make an on the spot claim for you at the time of your consultation. (Please check with your cover with your individual insurance company).
Eating Disorder Referrals?
If you have a suspected or diagnosed eating disorder you need to discuss getting an eating disorder care plan referral from your General Practitioner. This will give you access to up to 20 Medicare rebated dietitian consultations and 40 rebated psychology consultations. We also have specialised eating disorder psychologists here at NuActive Health and highly recommend integrated health care with treatment from both our specialised eating disorder dietitians and psychologists to best manage and treat your eating disorder.
Other referrals?
NuActive Health’s dietitians have over 1000 health professionals who refer to us, including GP’s, cardiologists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, geriatricians, gynaecologists, obesity surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, paediatricians, psychiatrists, pulmonary specialists and sports physicians.
We also receive referrals from other allied health professionals, including physiotherapists, psychologists, diabetes educators and podiatrists.
Do we accept NDIS referrals?
Yes although our exercise physiologists are NDIS registered and accept all NDIS exercise physiology referrals. Our Dietitians can only accept plan and self managed NDIS patients at this stage.
